Implementation Plan for the Bearing Maintenance Project of the Baghdad Ramp Bridge

Project Overview

The current positions of the two rows of bearings on the cap beam of Pier 19 of the ramp bridge deviate from the designed positions. Consequently, it is necessary to jack up the beam body to disengage it from the bearing support, inspect and repair the bearing pad stones, check the usability of the bearings, replace the bearings determined to be damaged, position the bearings correctly, and then lower the beam.

Implementation Plan

To ensure the safety of the jack - up process, it is essential to first close the ramp bridge to traffic and ensure that there are no heavy loads on the bridge deck. To guarantee uniform stress distribution on the bridge deck and end cross - beams and prevent damage, a PLC system will be adopted to control pressure and displacement. The implementation will follow these steps:

Construction Preparation

Prepare personnel, materials, equipment, and all relevant measures. Before replacing the bridge bearings, a double - row floor - standing steel - pipe and fastener scaffold should be erected around the cap beam. If a suspended - basket scaffold is used, it must meet at least the safety and construction requirements. Conduct necessary on - site inspections and measurements.
